Explanation: It is not often that I attempt to explain any of my poetry, but this little piece is begging for some clarity. I am a member of militaryhistoryonline.com and on the message boards there, there have been some long and heated discussions about the foreward movement of General Dan Sickles and his Third Corps of the Army of the Potomac during the second day's fighting of the Battle of Gettysburg. Many of the members have become so deeply tired of the discussion that the mere mention of the General's name brings the fear of another lengthy discussion. Therefore, many of these same members have taken to calling the General "The Nameless one". |
